Lesley Performing Arts Club’s fall production, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon

On Monday, Nov. 4, Lesley University’s student organization Allied Against Oppression held a rally to demonstrate solidarity with University of Missouri’s black students. The rally was followed by a discussion on the topic of race and racism on Lesley’s own campus.


Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School will be hosting the 35th anniversary of its 1980 graduating class on Saturday, Nov. 28. Cocktails will be served, beginning at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at Crowne Plaza Woburn on Middlesex Canal, and will be DJ’d by Michael Dottin.

On Oct. 17 and 18, Lesley University hosted the fifth annual Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, in conjunction with Boston Comic Arts Foundation. The convention, called MICE for short, is free to the public and exists with the intention that people become more aware of the existence of artists who work and produce locally, as well as any creator of comics or other graphic storytelling media who wants their name on people’s radars.

The 23rd Tribute to Outstanding Women Awards will be held as a dinner event by the Young Women’s Christian Association of Cambridge, or YWCA at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 21. The event is held annually, and serves the purpose of honoring women who bring honor and hope to the community.

This year, the theme of the awards is “on a mission,” and each honoree was selected for their history of passion, motivation, and commitment to our community, and the event is held in recognition of their efforts.

The recently-founded Boston regional chapter of Global Zero, an anti-nuclear weapons organization, held its first official event on Saturday, Sept. 26.

“No 2 Nukes, Yes 2 Peace,” Mary Popeo says of the event, “is a concert rally held in conjunction with Physicians for Social Responsibility and Peace action.”
